Community Redevelopment & Renewal Grants Update
At the City Council meeting held on September 18, 2023, Assistant to the City Manager, Matthew Pierce, presented the latest information regarding the grants being sought/received by the City.
EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant
- Awarded $500,000 in 2022 (2022-2026)
- Identify “brownfields” and return to productive use.
- Area plans along Monroe Street and W. Front Street.
Rural & Tribal Assistance Pilot Program
- Applied in August 2023 for $240,000
- Intersection study (engineering, design) of Garner Bagnal and Shelton Avenue.
- Safer for pedestrians, better for motorists
RAISE Federal DOT grant
- Applying Q1 2024
- $13,000,000-$15,000,000
- Redevelopment of S. Center & Shelton Avenue
