Peter and his lovely wife, Mayra, have opened Carolina Gourmet in Mooresville for your in-home, in-office, private event, dining pleasure. “We specialize in gourmet meal preparation. We want people to understand we’re not take-out as you know it,” Mayra told me. “Your food doesn’t sit in a bag, getting cold,” Mayra explained. “When you place your custom order, we then prepare your meals—fully cooked and ready to heat up at home. We’re all about creating an exceptional experience with our customized menu choices. You’ll enjoy an elegant, restaurant-quality meal in the privacy of your home.”

How to Eat Like Royalty
Gourmet meals, ordered a day ahead, are made with fresh, not frozen, locally sourced meats, East Coast seafood, and farmer’s market fresh fruits and vegetables. Your entrée and delicious sides are paired with homemade breads, a salad perhaps, and beverage options that include wine and beer, if desired. You can conveniently pick up, Door Dash, Uber, or arrange personal delivery for your convenience.
Peter’s handcrafted entrées come in several categories: Mediterranean Delight includes, but is not limited to, local catch of the day with ratatouille, olive oil roasted potatoes, grilled lemon, and grilled chicken breast with orzo pasta, green beans, tomatoes, feta cheese. Italian Night offers chicken parmigiana with spaghetti in Marzano tomato sauce, or classic lasagna with slow-simmered meat sauce. I can tell you from experience that the fresh salmon pasta made with mushrooms, spinach, tomato cream sauce, and spaghetti is fabulous! Is your mouth watering yet?
There are Lean & Fit options…grilled jumbo shrimp, anyone? Keto friendly and gluten free versions of many selections can be prepared. Breakfasts—homemade blueberry muffins, soufflés, fresh fruits—lunchtime sandwiches (I highly recommend the homemade chicken salad on freshly baked Focaccia bread), soups, salads, and children’s meals can be custom ordered also. Appetizers like chicken empanadas, spinach artichoke dip—the charcuterie boards are fabulous—can kick-off your meal or party. A la carte, high-end steakhouse sides, like truffle mac & cheese or fresh green beans with almonds are the perfect match for pasta dishes, steak, chicken, and seafood dishes. Desserts at Carolina Gourmet are deliciously famous! Holiday specialties coming up for Easter will include herb goat cheese dip to start off, honeyed ham with mustard-orange glaze, braised lamb shanks, and roast pork loin…plus home-baked carrot cake, of course!

“We want customers to have the best possible butcher shop selections,” Peter said. “Our beef is all prime quality. Fresh, natural chicken thighs and breasts and meat cuts can be ordered marinated or not, as you wish. We purchase only fresh—not farmed—East Coast shrimp and seafood. If there’s something you’d like us to find for you, please ask.”
Catering To Your Needs
Catering small parties, private events, and meetings are a specialty. “Again, at your dinner party, afternoon soiree, baby shower, meeting, open house, family reunion—even when families gather after a death, we serve custom dishes, delicious meals, or finger foods that can be ordered gluten free or keto friendly from our up-scale menu,” Mayra said. “We’ll help you select dishes, beverages, and desserts for your event’s theme.”
A Creative, Inspired Business Plan
Chef Peter has spent hours developing recipes specifically meant to be taken home or delivered for you to heat up at mealtime. “If you like, I can come to your home or office. I’ll be the personal chef for your luncheon, dinner, or party, making certain everyone has a delicious time,” Peter said. “We’re family friendly, in touch with special dietary needs. I’m teaching Mayra’s son, Matthew, the culinary trade here in our kitchen. He’s learning like I did, as an apprentice to a fine chef.” Peter’s dream, after decades preparing high-end meals in fine restaurants in Europe and the US, was to do this himself, personally in service to neighbors, local businesses, and friends. “We want this business to grow and sustain our family, not make us rich or famous,” he shared. “Mooresville is a good place for us…we’re thankful every day that we settled here.” Carolina Gourmet is an easy pick-up location, a few blocks off Hwy 150, very near Exit 36.
