A Hay Farm, Wedding Venue, and Mini Horse Rescue, All at Chickadee Hill Farms
by Candace Lagerhausen
Right on the border of Statesville and Troutman, you’ll find Chickadee Hill Farms – a beautiful, 25-acre piece of property that has been a hay farm for over a century. While there is still a hayfield on the land, there is now also a lavender field and mini horse rescue. But perhaps the most popular use for this property today is as a wedding venue. The farm has reception barn and multiple ceremony sites, drawing brides from near and far. “We’re at a great location”, said Michelle Barsosky, owner of Chickadee Hill Farms.
One of the farm’s big events is the Annual Festival of Trees. Although only in their third year, Michelle says the first years were a huge hit. “People loved it”, she shared. Starting November 25, visitors can visit the farm to see the 50+ trees, all decorated with different themes. The trees will be raffled off after the event ends on December 3rd. In addition to viewing the trees, visitors can enjoy the food trucks, carnival games, and the farm’s new train.
